Ask most Olympians how their story begins and they will answer, “When I was young, I always dreamed of going to the Olympics. . .” Some will then go on to tell of their great athletic triumphs. Others will recall agonizing near-misses. But for most, the very fact that they reached the Games at all was a dream come true. For the Olympic Games offer athletes something few others sporting events can: the chance to be recognized as the best in the world at a chosen sport. With stories of great triumphs and great tragedies, the Olympics not only embodies the competitive human spirit, but also sets a stage stage for foreign relations and politics. Historical references combined with amazing sports stories give this book both an educational and exciting appeal.

How To Select A Web Host That's Reliable

Choosing a web hosting package that goes well with your site and one that is very dependable is a very big step. This is because your site entirely relies on the web host. The purpose of this article is to help you pick out a worthy partner in a web host.

First and foremost; be sure of what you you're looking for before you actually choose a web host. Create a plan and find out if your choice for web host can really do the things that you need to be done. If you are a blog owner that wants to be successful, then select a web hosting service that provides all of the services that you need. Select a company that is both dependable and will give you the space to mature. Select a web host that will give you the ability to expand your site in the future. Putting effort into this task is very imperative. This is because when your website becomes successful in the end, it will not be that simple to changeover your web host. So it is always good to be prepared before you have to encounter this scenario. This is so that your website is able to grow without any problems.

Secondly, check the web host's refund policy. Ensure that you will not encounter any financial problems in the future. You should comb through the refund policy papers of your web host in detail and be cautious. This is because many times there may be little things that you did not see the first time. In the future, this might be a mistake that will not bring about good results. If you have any questions, then get in touch with customer service. Ask for them to clarify your problem instead of making assumptions. If you truly desire to try out an offer that is based upon the refund policy, then you need to ensure that your money is really in a secure area. It is not an enjoyable task to get a refund for something that did not meet your expectations.

Last but not the least; you should constantly monitor your web host. Why? So that you can be sure that your web host is delivering everything they promised you when you signed up for their hosting package. You should look at factors such as the uptime, the page loading time, the bandwidth usage and other things that need monitoring. If you notice that something is not right or a feature is not what you expected, then do not be afraid to talk to your web host company. The earlier you these things taken care of, the better you will be in the long run.

All in all, this article highlights some of the things that are important if you want to have a dependable web host. It is not that difficult to become confused when you have so many different available choices. But, if you keep your eyes open and search for a suitable solution for your website, you'll get more than satisfactory results. So don't just go for any web host that you come across.

Instead, put some time aside to look into all of the good web hosting services, use the trial offers and monitor their customer service. Once you are really sure about which one, then subscribe to the service. You will not find a web host immediately. But it will be all worth it in the end.

Excerpt: The 1956 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVI Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event which was held in Melbourne, Australia, in 1956, with the exception of the equestrian events, which could not be held in Australia due to quarantine regulations. Instead, those events were held five months earlier in Stockholm, Sweden, marking the second time that events of the same Olympics were held in different countries. (At the 1920 Summer Olympics in the Antwerp, Belgium, one sailing event had been held in Dutch waters). The 1956 Games were the first to be staged in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as the first to be held outside Europe, Asia or North America. Melbourne was selected as the host city over bids from Buenos Aires, Mexico City, and six American cities on 28 April 1949, at the 43rd IOC Session in Rome, Italy. The chart's information below are from the International Olympic Committee Vote History web page. Many members of the IOC were sceptical about Melbourne as an appropriate site. Its location in the Southern Hemisphere was a major concern, since the reversal of seasons would mean the Games were held during the northern winter. This was thought likely to inconvenience athletes from the Northern Hemisphere who were accustomed to resting during their winter. Melbourne was selected, in 1949, to host the 1956 Olympics by a one-vote margin. The first sign of trouble was the revelation that Australian equine quarantine would prevent the country from hosting the equestrian events. Stockholm was selected as the alternate site, so equestrian competition began on 10 June, five and a half months before the rest of the Olympic games were to open, half the world away. The problems of the Melbourne Games were compounded by... More:

Excerpt: The 1960 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVII Olympiad, was an international multi-sport event held in Rome, Italy, in 1960. Rome had been awarded the organization of the 1908 Summer Olympics, but after the 1906 eruption of Mount Vesuvius, was forced to decline and pass the honors to London. On June 15, 1955, at the 50th IOC Session in Paris, France, Rome beat out Lausanne, Detroit, Budapest (being the first city of the Eastern Bloc to bid for the hosting of the Olympics), Brussels, Mexico City and Tokyo for the rights to the Games. The vote results below, in chart form, are compliments of the International Olympic Committee Vote History web page. ¹ New facilities constructed in preparation for the Olympic Games. ² Existing facilities modified or refurbished in preparation for the Olympic Games. Athletes from Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago would represent the new (British) West Indies Federation, but this nation would only exist for this single Olympiad. Athletes from East Germany and West Germany would compete as the United Team of Germany from 1956-1964. These are the top ten nations that won medals at these Games: ...
