Nearly The Holiday Season - How About Arranging A Party?

Parties can be magical, they are a marvellous opportunity to get together with family and friends, maybe someone you haven't seen in a while and enjoy fine food and music together. Arranging them can also stress you out! To help you reduce those stress levels, I have put together some tips which will hopefully make things run more smoothly.

Let's start with organizing the party and who to invite.

Make sure your invite has all the details of the party from date, time and location, to dress code and if guests need to bring food or drink.

Think about your guest's tastes before you start arranging activities and try to arrange something that everyone will enjoy. Make some name tags with a bright and fun design, a good talking point as well as helpful for those guests who may not know everyone.

Decorating your property and arranging music

For a Xmas party, decorations are quite important. A tree decked out with pretty baubles is essential, add in mistletoe for laughs. Pretty candles placed around the room, create a cheerful atmosphere; but make sure they are secure and can't be knocked over. Picking music is usually important to add fun and possibly some singing and dancing to your party.

What food and drink do you need to provide?

In general, provide more food than is necessary for your guests. Although it may be somewhat wasteful, running out of food during a party is a definite downer! Don't forget to purchase or make vegetarian or vegan dishes!

Buying in drinks can be a horrendous chore, try and buy a little of everything: wine, spirits, fruit or soft drinks, hot drinks and you could do a non-alcoholic punch.

Etiquette when planning a party

As the party holder, try your best to be there and available for all your visitors. Go round the room making sure each person has what they need, include shy guests in conversation or ask a more outgoing friend to take them under their wing.

Don't leave dirty dishes and glasses lying around, as the party goes on, pick up trash and take empty plates away. By keeping on top of things you will find that there is less to do at the end of the night, or even in the morning and it makes your house more pleasant for late visitors and everyone else.

Let smokers know where they can smoke, be it on a balcony, a patio, in the garden, or on the front lawn.

Gifts

Especially at Xmas, many hosts like to do a present exchange; if you do arrange a present exchange make sure visitors are aware and what the cost limit is. One fantastic way of making the exchange of gifts more entertaining is for all friends to be allocated a name and buy for that guest, all gifts will then go under the tree and opened at the party.
